Kenyatta paints her nails all sort of "badass" ways and Eshe hates it because she keeps her well manicured nails in a french tip style but no nail polish, just nude well maintained nails.

Tish would have the most delicate little gel nails because she would love the colors on her nails but it's hard to maintain when you are tinkering all the time. Gel flower nails 💅 🌺

Kenyatta paints Naio's toenails because he would love to partake but his hands do heavy work all the time and it would come off too soon and he doesnt have time for anything serious like salon quality nails. They have a little date night where Kenyatta does his toes for him and he gets all giggly every time he showers before going to bed because he loves his little colorful nails

Kenli has a stash of nail polish he uses every now and then but wipes it off immediately after it dries because he cant show this sort of goofiness as esteemed major and husband

Reth wouldnt paint his own nails but would do Tish's for her and he would do his date's/SO's

Hassian paints his unironically and gods forbid you mention it in any way

Sifuu doesnt paint hers but used to do her wife's and she would be horrible at it and they would have had the best laughs at it. She wouldn't do Hassian's because it hurts too much but he would do his in a way to remember his momma

Najuma wouldnt do her own, she thinks it's a waste of time and comes off when she mines anyways (Hodari tried to paint her nails when she was little and it chipped all the time and she couldn't sit still for long enough to dry) Sometimes Auni brings her nail stickers and nail polish to try and be friends and she doesnt know how to tell him she doesnt want them

Elouisa paints hers as a protection against the paranormal, colors and shapes has meaning. Caleri has beautiful but discreet salon manicures now but they used to do each other's nails when they were little.

Ashura doesnt do his but loves seeing and complementing everyone on their choice of color and design.

Jel likes doing his own but Tish takes him to the salon with her to get ✨ professional ✨ designs and he always has some dark but elegant designs each new week

Delaila would love to get into it but doesnt have the time. Badruu got him press ons but it's not the same. I love to think every now and then her family forces her to have a spa day and get some simple but cute gel nails .

Zeki has press ons, sometimes he wears them unironically but i totally see him as a laying on my bed on my tummy with my feet in the air and spend an embarrassingly long time to try different press ons and mix and match them

Tamala does her own very intricate porcelain nails. 100% impressive and gorgeous but so pointy you automatically cover your sensitive areas in case of stabbing

Jina lets Hekla does hers after Hekla finds out from the humans that they like nail polish and it's very popular between young people. She secretly likes it.

Chayne sometimes has a very pale color on his but mostly he keeps his nails clean and pristine so he wouldn't accidentally compromise healing in any way.

Hodari wouldnt paint his (but would do yours) but every now and then when he accidentally slams something on his fingers and his nails turn purple he jokes that's his way of partaking

im finishing up the sort of tutorial quests where you learn how to use all the tools(playing sooo slow bc i also just started hyperfixating on Stardew Valley so playing lots of that again heh) so i haven’t run into a ton of characters yet

theres sooo many fun quests after the tutorial!! my biggest tip when playing is try to climb everything. once u get the glider also try to glide anywhere u cant directly climb! ull find tons of chests & hidden areas!! also if u see vines, climb. if u see ivy, run up against it bc often theres a hidden area behind it!! ive been playing for months & im still finding new stuff i havent seen before!

also also!! read everything that gives u a prompt to read it! sometimes its just something funny, sometimes ull get food recipes, sometimes u get quests!

jina is perfect ur so right- romancing her is sm fun shes so cute when u flirt w her!! also tish is super sweet!! tip for her: she likes any flowers u bring her! i like to bring her sundrop lilies or crystal lake lotuses :) sometimes briar daisies to switch things up

Okay, uh... where do I start... Do I start with the tree falling on me, or do I go back a bit?

I say as though anyone else reads this.

But you know what, I'm still proud of this thing, as silly as it is.

Anyways, renovations! Or, well, I had too many shop medals, and I kind of went on a Spending Spree~

Reth also gave me a cooking plaque, and Tish gave me one for furniture making~ The cooking one is in the kitchen, the furniture one is in the workshope near the mujiin head. (Where did that mounted sernuk head go anyways? I could've sworn...)

Tish though the blusprints were a nice touch, and it was kinda fun to plaster them to the wall like that. I did have to move Einar's net, but it looks good where it is not, so, not a big deal.

And that rock display. Hodari went a little bit overboard, yanno? I just wanted something I could maybe display a really nice starstone in, not... that.

Cute though.

Flow groves are still the best thing ever, even when they spawn in weird place. I've found a couple now inside the Flooded Fortress, which really threw me for a bit, but you know what else I found in there?

Bahari is so wonderfully picturesque. Maybe I should talk to Tish or Zeki about getting picture frames so I can hang something like this in them?

Okay, so... leading up to the tree things, uh... Hodari popped by my house and asked me what my favorite flower is. Which, objectively I don't have one, I just love the flowers I find, but since I know how hard it is to find most of the flowers around here, I told him a crystal lake lotus. He hummed, and left pretty quick, which... well, it's Hodari, he's like that?

And then I turn around and nearly clobber Najuma as she scrambled out of the bushes and scares half my life off me. Jeez child!

Sweet kid though. She told me he was struggling with making a pin for me, and that I should sort of force his hand so he'd stop being all indecisive. So it was off to Sifuu after forever, and man. She teased me fierce.

Though she said she understood how I'd won over Hodari, considering I won over Hassian. Which. Was sweet. And yeah, I guess I am kinda the Grump Whisperer, aren't I?

So when I talked to Hodari about it, pin in hand, he said he had about twenty pins in progress, but since I'd given him one, he had to stop worrying about perfection.

He's adorable. That's adorable.

He said he'd get it to me quick, so I went to Bahari, because I had other things to get. Like, more tree seeds.

And that's how I dropped a tree on myself.

Look, in my defense, I really wanted to know what the pin would be like!

Tau found me, then went and got Hassian and Najuma. Najuma considered blowing part of the tree up until I pointed out that I'm no more explosion proof than the tree. FOrtunately, no one got blown up or exploded, but they did have to get Hodari to help move the tree, and everyone's telling me I'm lucky it isn't worse.

Also, I got my pin from Hodari. He's really sweet when he puts his mind to it. And... I'm glad he's willing to take a chance on us. I really am.

Jina's threatening to take away my book, so I guess I should probably stop now. They're all going to be ridiculous before Chayne gives me a clean bill of health, I just know it.

What’s Clara’s story in the demon slayer au?

Six graves stand in the dirt, fresh flowers and grass growing around the stone.

They’re on top of a hill, so they can see the Sun when it shines the brightest and the moon when it’s at its peak.

But five of the graves are empty, only one of them really holds a body. Demon bodies fade to dust when they die, humans don’t.

“You’ve been summoned,” A voice calls out, “To run judgement,”

“I’m not going,” Clara snorts as she looks at the graves.

Catalina rolls her eyes, “Your an Upper Rank, you can’t ignore a summons from the council,”

Clara poked her tongue out as she turned around, “I’ve done it before and we all know the council doesn’t like me,”

Catalina folds her arms, eyes narrowed. They most likely sent her because Catalina didn’t take shit and she certainly didn’t play Clara’s games.

“They’ve agreed to let you see Jinae’s grave if you go,”

The demon slayer exhaled deeply, smirk dropping off her features.

Jinae was buried in the Kwon Cemetery, not that her body was recovered. But the Kwon family had banned Clara from their grounds.

They believed it to be her fault for the death of the youngest family member.

“I watched everyone die and their still being assholes about it,” Clara yawned, “Fine, I’ll come,”

Reth smells like soup. Even after bathing. It’s good soup tho.

Einar smells like a metal fishing boat on a hot summer day in the middle of a murky lake.

Nai’o smells like shit right after work, but after bathing he smells like milk and honey.

Subira smells like crystal lake lotus since she’s always picking them for you.

Tish smells like flowers and saw dust.

Hassian is gamy. Wild, untamed, and a bit in need of a hot bath. You only get so clean washing in the waterfall at the grove.

Tamala smells spicy, like freshly gathered herbs. But every once in a while you’ll catch a whiff of old old lady smell.

Chayne smells like a college stoner. (Knap)weed and Nag Champa.

Caleri and Jina both smell like books. But Caleri’s smell is accented by spice from her tea while Jina’s is… a bit musty. There’s lots of dust in that ancient library and it doesn’t help that she eats so many mushrooms.

Badruu and Deliala smell exactly the same… like… weirdly the same. Freshly turned earth, warm apples, and hay.

Najuma smells like a big fireworks show. The kind you see on 4th of July or on Guy Fawkes Night.

Eshe smells like Chanel No. 5. Exactly like Chanel No. 5. She claims not to wear perfume.

Sifuu and Hodari both smell sweaty and metallic. Hodari’s is more musty and Sifuu is more acrid.

Zeki wears really strong cologne, so it’s not clear what he smells like. The cologne is reminiscent of axe body spray.

Hekla smells like nothing. You can sniff all over and not pick up anything discernible.

Jel smells like a rich woman’s closet.

Auni usually smells like a stink bug. It’s unclear if that’s how he naturally smells or if he just gets blasted with them all of the time.

Kenli smells a bit like ketchup, but sweeter.

Ashura smells like a wood smoke fire and sundrop lilies.

Kenyatta’s smell changes often. She likes wearing perfume, but gets bored with one smell pretty quickly before moving on to the next.

Elouisa says that she smells like a Flothinger, but you’re not sure those exist so you can’t verify.

Tau smells like a dog that’s been laying in the sun on a hot day.

Am I weird for this? Does anyone else sometimes look at a fictional character and get a very strong urge to sniff them cause they look like they smell really good?

I also keep imagining the like. Family traditions on top of cultural traditions influencing what gifts they give their partner.

Like the more rural people are very focused on the whole "providing evidence that I can help provide for us and shelter us" thing. People from the big cities are probably more about flaunting their wealth and status that could be yours.

So Nai'o and Kenyatta, for example would have approached courting from wildly different levels and Nai'o just has a bunch of nice things in his room that he swears Auni to secrecy about. Kenyatta has obtained more veggies than Nai'o should probably have given away. Eshe knows and is mortified. Kenli thinks its sweet.

Jel probably has seven layers of "if I don't give gifts that reflect my family I'm not worthy of bringing someone into it". Likewise he's well aware a lot of practical skills outside crafting garments are beyond him.

Hassain has a calander once he processes that he's feeling these things again. And that the feelings might be returned. Theres furs, theres dried fish and fresh forage. Theres bags of seeds and whittled combs and a good skinning knife. He even buckles down and forges a cooking knife for them. He goes through ten versions before he's happy with it. Each gift is given at different times of day, on specific days, leading up to Courting Season proper. This is complicated if he's courting a human, because dragon knows where they're at most the time. But every gift the other person accepts makes him anxious they won't take the next entirely because he's dangerously happy they took the previous.

Tish has been working on a intricately carved bedroom set for the last 5 years. In preparation for whenever/if ever she wants to be with someone. There are fancy inlays on the wardrobe and scrollwork on the headboard. He bedside table has a depressed notch sized for a lantern so you dont knock it over when reading by candle light. Theres a chest of drawers with secret compartments for jewlery.

Hodari would be a year behind when he realizes he wants this. Because he'd have to emotionally process his feelings about his late wife and make sure his daughter was okay with a new addition vs someone just keeping him company. But then its robustly practical gifts. Ore and tools and the odd gemstone that he thinks they'll like. Its not a glamorous life he can offer but it could be a happy one.

Reth has about five panic attacks about it. Because getting involved with him is already a dicey proposition, let alone being serious enough to start Courting officially over it. Sure he can flirt and have flings, but that's not settling down levels. That's not "I'm trying myself to you forever" level. Not to mention traditionally he should be making them things. Furniture and utensils and decorations for a home he's promising them. And he's well aware hes shit at traditional things. Hes also deeply convinced he cant just give food because he already gives them food. But he cant afford to buy other gifts and short of begging Tish for help he can't make something... what ends up happening is he shows up with flowers and asks if that can be enough, if you'll take him.

Jina is mortified. Not because she doesn't want a relationship-- she does, very badly by the time she considers Courting Season at all--but because she's on a research expedition. She literally has nothing on her to give. This stress ends up resulting in Hekla sending dozens of humans on scavenger hunts to get her things. Because Hekla doesnt lime Jina stressed. Jina is promptly scandalized to hell and back.

I imagine poly situations are similar to an extent-- the goal is to at least befriend/get along with the other partner(s) of your initial interest. A fully fluid polycule situation vs a hinge is preferred for social cohesion but it's up to the situation.

The pins are essentially "we're committed and care for one another". Going steady v engagement, I'd imagine. I havent gotten to the pin talk in game yet so I'm spitballing.

My brain: imagine the weeks beforehand are customarily for courting and anything outside of that is considered just kinda flirting. But if someone gives you stuff in that time it's basically saying "I very much want to be serious about this". And the actual season is mostly understood to be for weddings, spending time together, and trying to have kids if you want them.

Me: I have been zoned out for five mins pls I have paperwork

My brain: I imagine Hassain would have like five layers of traditional gifts to give. Hesitantly, because being serious is scary after... well. Reth meanwhile is pretty sure giving food wont cut it, because he always gives food. He's begging Jel and Tish to help him. Jel meanwhile is convinced that if he doesnt make a good enough house outfit his prospective partner will leave in disgust. Tish has spent three months on a bedroom set. There's carvings on all the wood. Hodari wouldn't want to admit to himself that he's been squirreling away an array of gemstones; he wants to give them to someone special but its Complicated.

So, apparently Zeki's decided I'm the type of human who can help him make his new magical inventions. I have a net zero on ideas of what he could possibly be making, but like... I may have enabled the making of whatever it's going to be? I'm just hopeful that it's not anything too dangerous...

Pretty sure that Eshe would ban all humans if even one of us fucked up with some sort of magical device...

And then we have Nai'o. Who is kind of as dumb as a box of rocks at times. Like. I'm glad he enjoys his Path? But farming is a workout in and of itself, why does he need to have a workout between farm chores?

Kenyatta, I don't know what you see in him...

Anyways, he's still fussing over what happened with the pie contest and teh ruined date, so I sounded out Auntie Dal and Kenyatta for him. And instead of believing me, and them (being fair, I think Kenyatta might be holding a tiny grudge? But also, not hard enough to like... call him a bad boyfriend or whatever.), he proceeds to ask me if I can bring him flowers. Some sort of apology bouquets, I'd guess, but I kind of have a bad feeling about it.

Still, he just asked for the flowers, not for my help in the bouquet making or whatever. So if he screws it up, this time, totally on him.

Just because Uncle B and Auntie Dal more or less took me in doesn't mean I have to like both my new cousins. Heck, keeping up with Auni is tough enough! And when Hassien asks me to keep an eye on the kid, I'm going to keep an eye on the kid.

Sheesh.

Plus side; getting farther on the little bathroom, and on my living room space. Reth brought over a bottle of... something. Smelled funny. Said it was good for pain, and I have to admit, I still feel pretty tender from the sunburn. I just don't know if I'm supposed to drink it, or rub it on, and he was very..... vague on it.

Maybe Lark knows. I'll ask them next time they show up. Which could be anywhere from an hour to half the day, because apparently someone has decided that I need looking after. As if I wasn't getting enough fussing from Jel, Dad, and Auntie and Uncle.

I'm getting better, darnit.

Oh, though Jel did tell me he was working on a beach outfit for himself so that next time he can accompany me to beachcomb without worrying about his good clothes. I tried to tell him that he didn't have to come with me, but It's really hard to say no when he pulls out The Face.

Seriously. Who can turn that expression down? Not me, that's for sure! I'm almost positive he'll come just to make sure I don't get too involved and burn again.... but you know, if this is what accepting his pin means, I don't think I mind it.

Oh, and I may have startled Reth a bit earlier... I'll take him some macarons later as an apology, but like... honestly. You cannot say, to my face, that you're going to spiral down into self-doubt. I've scolded Jina for it, and I'll scold him too, damnit! I was just.... maybe a bit vehement.

Jel's melodrama can be cute at times, but I really do need to ask him to tone it down a bit. Just a little. Like, I don't mind him getting distracted by missing me when I'm not there (that's the cute part) but him getting artists block specifically because I have to do other things could become... problematic.
